Glass Bead Making Classes

Glass bead making is one of the "hottest" trends right now.  Take a class and join our community of talented individuals who made glass their passion. 

For all our bead making classes, please wear non-flammable fabrics (cotton, denim, linen), no synthetics and no silk.  Your sleeves should be tight or short, no ruffles.  If you have long hair, please tie it back.  Also, please read our Cancellation Policy.

TWO NEW CLASSES THIS SUMMER!

CLASSES WITH RYAN TURNER

Ryan is an amazingly talented beadmaker.  We are proud to say that he took his first bead making class at our shop.  He was one of our youngest students but his remarkable talent was apparent from the very beginning.  Ryan now has been making beads for several years and achieved an incredible skill level. He is willing to share some of those skills and teach two summer classes at Tiffany House. Space is limited - these are not our regular classes at this point - so book now!



FLOWER IMPLOSIONS 

August 7, 10-12:30, $95

Learn to create stunningly realistic flowers inside pendants and marbles using soft glass implosions in this half-day class.  You will also cover pulling encased stringers, frit stringers and twisted cane aswell as using dense glassblowing rod and peeling glass for better colour.  Mandrel implosions, inclusion of murrini and incorporating implosions in beads may also be covered as time permits.  This is an intermediate to advanced class.

 

BUTTERFLY MURRINI 

August 14, 10-5, $185

A butterfly murrini will be carefully assembled by combining basic shapes over four separate pulls. many advanced techniques will be covered and you will be working with large amounts of glass.  Upon completion of the cane you will cover cutting  the finished butterflies and including them in beads.  Other types of murrini may also be covered as time permits.  This is an advanced full day class. Students should be comfortable making twisties and pulling large gathers.

BEGINNER GLASS BEAD MAKING CLASS
Dates:  July 24,  August 28       Time: 9 am - 4 pm
Price: $185, includes all the supplies and tool rental, as well as 4 hours of studio time.   One-day class.

  Come and play with fire - take our Beginner Bead Making Class.  In this exciting    class you will learn to properly use a special torch and how to melt glass and turn it  into beads. You will concentrate on getting the basic shape right, and will learn to do   some decorating.  Your beads will be annealed for you in the kiln and you will be able   to pick them up the week after the class.
 


INTERMEDIATE GLASS BEAD MAKING CLASS

Price: $185, includes all the supplies and tool rental, as well as 4 hours of studio time.   One-day class.

Improve on your bead making technique, and learn more about this exciting medium.  The focus of this class in on encasing, working with silver and floral designs.  Your beads will be annealed for you in the kiln and you will be able to pick them up the week after the class.

 

In addition to our regular classes, we also offer SPECIAL TECHNIQUE CLASSES. They are ususally shorter,  2.5- 3 hours and focus on 1-2 elements.  Scroll down to see the selection and times.

PENDANT IMPLOSIONS

 In this class Rae shows how to make some  very amazing  and unique pendants using a technique known as "implosion".

 

 

STRNGERS, TWISTIES AND MURRINI
Dates:    Sep 13            Time:  9:30-noon
Price: $95, includes all the supplies and tool rental, as well as 2 hours of studio time.

Learn (or perfect) how to pull stringers, make colourful twisties of several different kinds, as well as create your own murrini.  All these elements can be used in bead making or  fusing. Beginner - Intermediate Level

 


OCEAN BEADS
Dates:    Sep 19           Time:  9:30-noon
Price: $95, includes all the supplies and tool rental, as well as 2 hours of studio time.

Learn how to  create beautiful and complex beads that evoke the feel of a tropical lagoon.Intermediate Level (Stringers, Twisties and Murrini class is recommended as a pre-requisite, but is not absolutely required.)

 



PRIMORDIAL SOUP BEADS

Learn how to  create these enchaning and ornate beads, using various decorative elements.  Intermediate Level (Stringers, Twisties and Murrini class is recommended as a pre-requisite, but is not absolutely required.)

 



ORIENTAL BAZAAR BEADS
