WELCOME TO OUR WORLD OF BEAD MAKING!
There's something very special about glass bead making (which is also known as lampworking). It's addictive and therapeutic at the same time. People find a sense of peace and fulfillment working behind a torch and watching the flame, as they mold into being unique bead creations. Every bead making session becomes not only a time to hone one's skills and try new things, but it makes for some great social interaction with fellow bead-makers.
BEAD MAKING SUPPLIES
We have a very large selection of glass rods, tools, books and numerous other items for bead makers. Our inventory and variety of glass rods is possibly the largest in Alberta, if not in Western Canada. We also carry or can order kilns and oxygen concentrators.
We carry Moretti, Effetri, Vetrofond, Lauscha, ASK, CIM (Creation Is Messy,) Double Helix, Filligrana, Gaffer, Reichenbach, and in Boro glass rods... Simax, Northstar, Glass Alchemy, Momka's Glass, as well as all kinds of enamels and frits.
We invite you to drop by for a visit. If something you're looking for doesn't happen to be on our shelves, we'd be pleased to bring it in for you. We try to have a "pulse" on what's going on within our Industry, and we do listen to our Members, too.
If you're interested in creating your own home studio, check out our BEAD MAKING KITS.
We don't currently have an internet shop, but if there is something you are looking for, give us a call or email us, there is a good chance we have what you are looking for, and can mail it to you.
Rubino pink glass can be amazing when combined with clears, stringers and as a background color. Instructor : Denise Archambault will show you how to make the rubino color dance in your beads with her tried and true techniques. Email our store if you are interested in learing these secrets and we will set up a date for a 2 1/2 hour class. I will post sample pictures shortly to help you understand the "magic"
In our comfortable studios, we offer Beginner, Intermediate and Special Technique Classes, where you can learn new techniques in bead making. Classes are taught by well-known Calgary glass artists, Irina Laird and Rae Perry .
STUDIO TIME
We also rent studio/torch/kiln time, so you can come at your convenience and enhance your bead making skills or create more beads for that new jewelry piece you've been wanting to make.
The studio time cost is only $5/hr. (and even much less if you buy our 15, 100, and 150 Pre-Paid Hour Blocks of time). This includes the use of a basic complement of tools, rose didymium glasses, as well as the use of kiln for annealing. (You will need to provide your own mandrels and bead release) You're also welcome to use a number of bead presses and other accessories during your studio time, at no cost to you.
